A 34-year-old Nashville woman was killed Friday morning in a motorcycle crash that shut down Interstate 24 East near the Harding Place entrance ramp, Metro Nashville Police said.

Jessica F. Turner, 34, of Nashville, died at the scene after she lost control of her motorcycle and was struck by an SUV on I-24 East shortly after 10 a.m., according to a police statement. Turner was riding a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound when she entered the interstate from the Harding Place ramp, investigators said.

Witnesses told officers the motorcycle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before it veered into a grassy area beside the shoulder, then came back onto the pavement, where Turner lost control, police reported. The bike went down and slid across the roadway into the path of a Toyota Sequoia, which struck Turner and the motorcycle, officials said.

Debris from the crash also hit a minivan, but neither that driver nor the SUV driver was injured, according to police. Eastbound lanes were closed for several hours as investigators and emergency crews worked the scene, causing significant traffic backups along the corridor.

Police said speed appears to have contributed to the crash, and there were no immediate signs of impairment. The investigation remains ongoing.
