Man dies after falling from boat on Barren Fork River

A Manchester man died Saturday after falling from a boat on the Barren Fork River near Rocket Park, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

TWRA said 48-year-old Corey Blake Phillips was paddling with two other men when, after a brief stop, he fell out of the boat and became unresponsive. The other men called 911, and Warren County EMS and the Warren County Rescue Squad responded.

Phillips was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The incident happened just before 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, in the Mount Leo area. TWRA said the death was the 10th boating-related fatality in Tennessee this year.
