AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred shortly after 5:00 am Wednesday morning. #PatBrown


Deputies responded to 3130 Peach Orchard Road, behind Chick-fil-A, in reference to an injured person.


Upon arrival, they located an individual who had been struck by a vehicle.


The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Petrick Brown of Augusta.

The initial investigation revealed that Brown was walking east through the dim parking lot wearing dark clothing and the vehicle was traveling north through the parking lot in a designated, marked travel lane.


The driver of the vehicle stated he did not see Brown, who walked in front of his vehicle.


He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
