Doss, identified by family members, was a wife, mother of two, and RN case manager who had recently begun working for the DCH Health System

. Authorities said she was shot Tuesday afternoon in the hospital parking lot.

Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit and the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to the scene, where Doss was pronounced dead. Officials confirmed a suspect was taken into custody, though authorities have not yet publicly released a motive.

Hospital officials stated there was no ongoing threat to the public and said operations at the medical center continued as normal while investigators processed the scene.
