Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Shooting After Man Allegedly Forced Entry Into Home
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night at a residence in northern Hopkins County after a homeowner allegedly opened fire on a man attempting to force his way inside the home.
According to authorities, deputies and investigators responded to the residence on May 12, 2026, following reports of a shooting.
During the investigation, officials reviewed footage captured by a Ring doorbell camera at the property. Investigators said the video allegedly showed Buck Clary striking the glass front door of the home while yelling outside the residence.
Authorities stated that Clary eventually shattered part of the glass door and reached his arm inside the home. Investigators say the homeowner then discharged a firearm through the door, striking Clary.
Emergency personnel with Hopkins County EMS transported Clary to a local hospital for treatment. However, officials said he later died from his injuries and was pronounced deceased by a Justice of the Peace.
Investigators have not announced whether any charges will be filed as the case remains under active investigation.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office said no additional details are being released at this time.
